As part of KKR’s ongoing commitment to driving transformational change and through a close partnership with New York Cares, our New York office participated in New York Cares’ Annual Coat Drive for the fourth year in a row to help give the gift of warmth to New Yorkers in need this holiday season. Donations were up from last year by 30% and, between physical coats donated and funds raised, KKR New York contributed over 23,000 coats in November!

Up until 2015, the average number of coats that New York Cares collected each year was 75,000. Following an exercise with KKR to identify areas to drive success and expand the impact of the Coat Drive, the organization began a “cash for coats” program beginning in 2015, which has exponentially increased the amount of coats donated each year.

This year a KKR employee connected New York Cares with HELPSY, a for-profit B Corp and the largest textile collection company in the Northeast U.S. This collaboration was a game changer as it dramatically reduced the costs of purchasing physical coats and allowed us to significantly scale the community impact of our drive for New York Cares.

At KKR we recognize that the ways in which we engage with our employees and how we impact our communities are critical components of our long-term growth and success. We are proud to partner with local organizations around the world and thank our New York colleagues for their generosity and giving spirit towards this important cause.

Critical to our success were the Team Captains – employees who volunteered to represent and rally their teams around the significance of this initiative. A heartfelt thanks goes to the following individuals and the hundreds of colleagues that participated to make this year a smashing success.
