June is LGBT+ Pride Month, recognizing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and their important role in enriching communities around the world, as well as promoting equal rights for all. Every year, Pride Month provides us with an opportunity to come together to show support for the LGBT+ community. This year is a particularly special cause for celebration as we mark the 50^th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, which is considered one of the most important events leading to the gay rights movement.

We are pleased to share KKR is joining in this year’s celebration by hosting and participating in a number of events globally, spanning from marching together in London’s Pride Parade to recognizing our KKR LGBT+ allies globally with a lucite token acknowledging their support of LGBT+ colleagues. We also hosted a discussion between KKR’s Ken Mehlman and David Mixner in our New York office earlier this month where we were able to hear David’s candid insights on a wide range of topics, from human rights activism to the evolution of LGBT+ rights. David’s story was incredibly inspiring, his messages quite powerful and his many words of wisdom pertinent to us all, particularly: “Know the difference between issues that come and go, and values and principles that should never change.”
