When I joined KKR back in 2004, it was because I knew I’d get to work alongside an impressive group of people and what I thought I’d be able to learn. 14 years later, I was right about both.  During my time at the firm, I have been given a number of opportunities to work across different businesses and geographies – including as an investor in private equity, capital markets, and credit, and serving as the firm’s treasurer and Head of Strategy. I spent five of those years in Asia, helping to build our business from the ground up. Without a doubt, that experience in Asia was one of the most impactful in my career, and it is a big reason why I am an advocate of mobility opportunities – because I know first-hand how they can expand one’s perspectives.  Founded by entrepreneurs, we are a small place that thrives on innovation and sees the value of investing in our people. If you have an idea, you are encouraged to bring it to fruition and the firm allows you to take on whatever responsibility you’re capable of taking on – and maybe some that you aren’t quite yet capable of taking on.  This is one of many reasons why I think we’re such a unique place to work.

Earlier this year I embarked on my latest role, Head of Human Capital and Strategic Talent. My path to this position was non-traditional, but it is also a good example of the firm’s open-mindedness when it comes to moving people around as well as a progressive mindset around managing our Human Capital.  I’m proud to lead an exceptional global team at a firm with a culture that embraces talent development grounded in objective feedback, and a place that has an intense focus on attracting the best and most diverse talent.

As we think about our recruitment efforts to identify that talent, we know it’s important for prospective candidates to have a place where they can see and hear first-hand from our employees about what it’s like to work here. That’s why we added a new section on our website devoted to Life at KKR. The team interviewed dozens of employees across different businesses, geographies and titles as we worked to develop the content, and used that as the inspiration. There you can read in our own words what the keys are to being successful at the firm, more about our culture and values, and why diversity is so important to us.  We hope you’ll take a few minutes to check it out and see why we think KKR is one of the best places to work today.
