KKR Celebrates 15 Years of Partnership with SEO with Launch of Alternative Futures

KKR and GIP to contribute $1.25 million each for program focused on undergraduate talent pool

KKR is proud to be a longtime supporter of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), a nonprofit that, for more than 60 years, has created a more equitable society by closing the educational and career opportunity gap for ambitious young people by providing education, mentorship, peer-to-peer support and networking programs. Such programs are critical to KKR’s own talent acquisition and development strategy and several SEO alums currently serve in senior leadership positions across KKR.

At SEO’s Annual Awards Dinner, KKR and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) announced that they will be the founding sponsors of a new undergraduate-focused program: Alternative Futures. KKR and GIP are each making commitments of $1.25 million over the next five years to build the program, which is the first of its kind. KKR and GIP will work closely with SEO to increase the number of college students prepared to enter the alternative investments sector directly from undergraduate programs. Through exposure, education, training, and internship placements, the program aims to develop and support the next generation of leaders in the alternatives sector at an even earlier point than ever before.

KKR’s commitment to recruiting professionals from diverse backgrounds is a key driver in KKR’s support of the Organization and has solidified a close collaboration between KKR and SEO over many years. Since 2014, KKR Co-Founder and Co-Executive Chairman Henry Kravis has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at SEO and is dedicated to leading the expansion of SEO’s important work in making lifetime achievement possible for thousands of talented young people.

Alternative Futures builds on the success SEO has seen in its other talent-development programs, including the Alternative Investments Fellowship Program (AIFP), which was launched in 2009 with founding support from KKR and has helped connect hundreds of high-achieving professionals to career opportunities in the alternatives space. The new program, together with AIFP, will complete the cycle of talent development to span from undergraduates through seasoned professionals and cements SEO as the go-to provider of programs focused on making opportunities in the alternatives space more accessible.

KKR looks forward to supporting the full spectrum of SEO’s programs related to providing opportunities in the alternatives industry at all levels and to all people.
