Anthea Muir, CEO of Laser Clinics Australia (LCA), a KKR portfolio company since 2017, told The Australian Financial Review on May 22 that LCA is on a mission to "democratise aesthetics" with the help of KKR.
LCA is the leading provider of non-invasive aesthetic treatments in Australia and New Zealand with a network of more than 125 clinics supported by aligned franchisees and a trusted brand. It offers a range of treatments and services including laser hair reduction, cosmetic injectables, skin treatments and complementary products.
Since opening its first clinic in 2008, the company has rapidly expanded its footprint in an effort to meet growing demand from its clients, particularly in the 18-to-40-year-old age group. Its focus is on being a disrupter, bringing affordable non-invasive aesthetic treatments to the ANZ market and providing low-risk services previously provided by dermatologists. All of this delivered with the highest standards of compliance and service quality — LCA’s medical advisory board continuously looks for opportunities to raise standards in a historically fragmented industry.
Now, LCA has ambitions to expand into the UK and Singapore with the help of KKR’s teams in Australia, Asia and Europe. In doing so, LCA has the opportunity to not only meet the demands of more customers, but will also serve as the latest example of an Australian brand expanding its model internationally.
